ABOUT ME

Hello and Welcome!

I am so glad that you have come to visit my page! This is CAT, behind the lens. You may be wondering not just about my work but me as a person...well you have come to the right place. I want to first start off by saying, I have a love for seeing things differently and one of those ways is through a lens. I have had a passion for photography and being creative in general since I was in high school, which is where I picked up my first lens and realized there was so much more to see. Now mind you, those were the days of film and darkrooms. A lot has changed since then and it is always a never-ending learning process, which I never minded because I have a love of learning! My work consists of portrait photography, nature, landscapes, and really anything that sparks an emotion in me. In addition to the photography part of my work, I am a designer with VIDA and also showcase my work on Fine Art America where they can be purchased. You can view these by following the links below.

What I feel is so important about photography is two things. One is that the image must produce some sort of emotion from its viewers. Without the emotion, it is just that, an image. With the emotional tie to the image comes a love for what you see and feel. When you view an image of your child, parent, and/or pet from say 5 years ago, it should spark an emotion inside. This is what I look to capture with photography. It also leads to the second reason why photography is so important. It captures a part of history. It freezes time for us, which as we all know cannot be reclaimed but those memories of that time can be captured and frozen for us to be able to go back in our memories and it can also bring back those emotions that we tied to the person or even a place within the image. Photography has and always will be a universal language and was best said by Bruno Barbey, "Photography is the only language that can be understood anywhere in the world."

That is what I want to capture, your emotion, which is why my first choice is to work with natural lighting when possible. Natural light can have such an impact on an image and photographers for ages have worked to duplicate it. I am a natural light photographer at heart, but I realize there are times this is not the best choice or not possible to gain the look and feel you want. I can adapt to the needs of my clients.

I attend the New York Institute of Photography earning a certificate in Professional Photography and have been a member of the Professional Photographers Association.

In addition, I work a full-time job as a Program Specialist in my hometown. You are welcome to look for me on LinkedIn and Facebook as well. Much of my work is done around my working hours by working during the evening and weekends but when needed, I can flex my schedule as I need for my clients. I am also a mother, aunt, and MeMe (grandmother). Yes, a grandmother! My first grandchild was born in 2014 and she is adorable!
